The MacArthur-Bates Communicative Development Inventories (CDI) is parent report forms for assessing language and communication skills in infants and young children. Our team has developed a Hong Kong Sign Language (HKSL) version of the CDI and has carried out some preliminary investigation of early development of HKSL with parents. The survey applies to children of different ages, aiming to help parents understand the HKSL vocabulary size of their children. From the results, parents are able to know the type and quantity of vocabulary that their children are capable of comprehending and expressing. If the test has been conducted more than twice, then parents will be able to investigate the growth of their children's vocabulary size as well.
