As there are no available assessment tools on written Chinese, we developed this tool to assess written Chinese grammatical abilities of deaf and hard of hearing children, as well as to profile the grammatical developmental trajectory of written Chinese in deaf individuals and hearing children in Hong Kong. The assessment is conducted in written Chinese, so the results will not be influenced by any hearing loss. An on-line system with different games is designed to enhance participants’ interest. There are two levels of this tool: Level 1 (for kindergarten) and Level 2 (for primary school). Tasks include Word Reordering, Picture Selection, Picture-Sentence Match and Fill-in-Blank.
