The sign-supported Online Library System aims at providing a self-learning platform for teachers and students to learn Hong Kong Sign Language, and providing sign language support in reading and learning. The Online Library System is divided into 4 main sections: "Baby Signing”, "Chinese Readers Series”, "English Books” and "I Can Read”.
The "Baby Signing” section is available for public view with 3092 video clips online.
The "Chinese Readers Series” includes Hong Kong Sign Language video clips produced based on the 50 story books of the Chinese Readers Series developed by the Programme. Video clips cover natural Hong Kong Sign Language signs referring to relatively more difficult vocabularies, explanation of these vocabularies in Hong Kong Sign Language and examples of the usage of these vocabularies in the stories. Parents and teachers could download specific worksheets for each story for free.
The "English Books” section includes Hong Kong Sign Language and English oral video clips of English sentences and vocabularies from ‘Shared-Reading Programme-Mice Series’ (10 books) published by Pearson Education Asia Limited, ‘Sight Word Readers’ (8 books) published by Creative Teaching Press and ‘Little Red Readers’ (14 books) published by Macmillan Education Australia, produced with the consent of the publishers. The aim is to let students understand English content better through sign language support, to help students in practicing oral English through observing mouth-shapes and lip movements.
The "I Can Read” section includes a Hong Kong Sign Language of the 84 story books in I Can Read series which is developed with the consent of the Greenfield Education Centre. These video clips contain vocabularies, sample sentences and the complete stories.
