Signers first watched an animated cartoon, Canary Row (Warner Bros, 1949), and told a Deaf researcher what happened in the story. Then, signers were asked to watch the same animation episode by episode again, and described each episode to the Deaf researcher.
Signers were asked to go through a wordless picture book 'Frog, Where are you?' (Mayer, 1969) and retell its content to a Deaf researcher. The whole task is divided into two sessions. First, signers signed the whole story to the Deaf researcher. Then the story is divided into 5 episodes, and the signers were asked to read each episode carefully and tell its content to the Deaf researcher episode by episode.
Two signers were asked to conduct free conversation face-to-face in each session. In this collection, four sessions of free conversation, divided into 39 episodes, were produced by 5 native Deaf adults.
