Mr. Szeto (Timothy, Deaf)comes from a deaf family and is a graduate of the SLCO Program. He joined the Centre for Sign Linguistics and Deaf Studies (hereafter “the Centre) in January 2025 as a part-time language research trainee. After half a year, due to his outstanding performance, he was promoted to a full-time language research trainee.
During his time at CSLDS, he followed his deaf mentor, Mr. Wong Kin, to learn how to use the ELAN software to transcribe Hong Kong Sign Language (HKSL) data, collect HKSL research data, and teach HKSL to hearing adults.
Timothy has grown rapidly during his time at CSLDS. He feels increasingly confident and has begun to find his own value, hoping to contribute more to the sign language community in the future.
