Mr Pippen Wong

Deaf researcher

Mr. Wong (Pippen, Deaf) is currently a Junior Language Research Assistant at the Centre for Sign Linguistics and Deaf Studies. Since 2005, he has been working at the Centre for around 20 years. During the past two decades, he has been assisting the Centre in conducting a variety of sign language research projects. For the Acquisition Team, his work primarily involves transcribing and analyzing Hong Kong Sign Language data from both the child corpora and the hearing adults’ corpus. He also helps to train new deaf transcribers. As a native Deaf signer of HKSL, he hopes that with the continuous advancement of sign language research, society will become increasingly aware of the existence of Hong Kong Sign Language, and more deaf children can have the opportunity to acquire sign language.
